OK, OK, OK, Here it is..so far(Multi-Texture Blanket - Part 4)

What do you think? This is the multi-texture blanket that I have been working on for a six year old autistic girl. Unfortunately you can't really see the different textures. It sure would be great if you could feel them on your own computer screen, don't ya think?

I'm not totally convinced this is the right lay out. I am hoping that any of you reading this will put in your two bits and help me play around with this so that I can get it just right. I think that the I will do the binding in pink satin, but I haven't yet decided what colour/texture(maybe a simple cotton colour/print) I should do the border. Ideas? Anybody? Help!

  1. I don't know about any OTHER Autistic kids, but Brogan's favorite material of all time is flannel. Fleece seems to make him squirmy. He was never partial to satin ... but it's been awhile since he was introduced to that fabric.
Overall, I love the pattern though, very fun.

  2. How big is it? Is it for a single bed, or just a cuddle blanket? It looks great so far. I love flannel, it's a cuddle promoter, use it as the backing, and satin on the border.

  3. It is about the size of a crib blanket. It is to help calm a 6 year old autistic girl. The feel of different textures calm her when she is having a meltdown.

  4. I think flannel would be a good choice for the border or the backing. The blanket looks really good!

  5. This is a really cool blanket. Great job. I would maybe try to balance the dark blocks on the corners. Maybe move the blue block on the 4th row to the lower left corner and the one on the lower left corner to the lower right corner. Maybe also try moving one of the gray blocks in the second row to another row.

  6. Thanks Lynette, You are right that blue block and one gray block needs to move. I haven't looked at it since I posted it here. Another set of eyes always helps!
